Fractures displacing banding, Geology - Isle of Tiree

During tectonic movements in the earth these rocks have been sujected to stresses and strains. Here you can see how the banding has been displayed by fractures in the rock.

About 12 miles in length, the Isle of Tiree, is situated off the west coast of Scotland and, along with the Isle of Coll, is the most remote of the Inner Hebrides. Glorious beaches, the wild flowers, including rare orchids, pretty cottages and a more relaxed pace of life has become a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts. For more info click to the Tiree Map page.
