Isle of Tiree Photographs > Other Collections > Gott Bay > Kirkapol Church, Gott Bay
Kirkapol Church, on Gott Bay, was built in 1842. Yellow machair flowers in the foreground. The Napier Commission, officially the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Condition of Crofters and Cottars in the Highlands and Islands, met here in 1883. This was a public inquiry into living conditions in places like Tiree. Tiree, the sunshine isle, is located some 60miles from mainland Scotland and is unique within Scotland's islands. Unspoilt beaches, watersports, pretty cottages and agreeable environment ensures tourists return to the island. For details visit the Overview of Tiree page. This photograph is strictly copyright.
