Tiree Pics > Other Collections >Dun Mor Broch
Dun Mor, the broch at Vaul, dates from approximately 60AD. Brochs were fortified structures built in the 1st Centuries BC & AD along the west and north coasts of Scotland and the islands beyond. There were probably places of refuge during attack rather than permanent dwellings. Vaul Broch was originally 8-10 metres high with walls 4 metres thick. The walls were hollow with stairs and galleries between the inner and outer layers. These images are strictly copyright. You must not use these anywhere without first seeking permission. |
